What do we get up to each year?
Autumn Term

A Night At The Theatre - We take part in the annual ‘A Night At The Theatre’ alongside the other performing arts societies at Royal Holloway and encourage members to take part in as many of these societies as they wish. We perform two songs (one stand-and-sing number and the other is both singing and dancing) and in addition, we also preview our Main Term show. We love to see as many of our members up on the stage as possible!

Autumn Showcase - As part of our Lights Up Series, Autumn Showcase is our first non-auditioned cabaret of the year where anyone can showcase anything they've been working on, be it singing, acting or dancing. It's a wonderful opportunity for absolutely anybody to get on stage, perform and gain confidence in front of an audience.
Autumn Term Main Show - Our Autumn Term Main Show takes place in the SU Main Hall in November, with auditions taking place in the second week of term. Past Autumn Term Main Shows have included Bring It On, Cabaret, The Addams Family and Legally Blonde.
Christmas Concert - At the end of the Autumn Term we perform our Christmas Concert, taking Christmas songs from musicals and popular culture, plus a number of our favourite carols. This is the first of our Cabaret shows of the year, and brings a great deal of Christmas joy to the Royal Holloway campus.

Spring Term
Weekend Show - Our next "Lights Up," performance is our very popular Weekend Show. For this event we rehearse a themed cabaret across Friday night, Saturday and Sunday and then perform to an audience Sunday evening. It is a musical in under 48 hours! In the past, we have performed the music of Andrew Lloyd Webber, music from the movies, and music from around the world! The rehearsal process is naturally very intense, being over such a short space of time, but very rewarding and enjoyable.

Variations - Our Variations Show is a show put on solely by our wonderful first years [and newcomers to MTS]! Not only is it only performed by first years, but directed, choreographed, produced and written by them as well. Previous Variations include Marvel vs. DC: The Musical, Love Island: The Musical, Bake Off: The Musical and Super Kart: The Musical to name a few.
Spring Term Main Show - Our Spring Term Main Show takes place in the SU Main Hall in March, with auditions taking place in the first week of term. Past Spring Term Main Shows have included Spring Awakening, Bare: A Pop Opera, Soho Cinders and Chicago.

Summer Term
Summer Cabaret - Our final cabaret event of the year is our biggest and most spectacular event; Summer Cabaret. This production is staged in the final term of the year and brings together a cast and crew of between 70-120 students. The performance, staged in the Student’s Union, includes over 20 numbers from different musicals, including one from each of our productions that year accompanied by a wonderful 20-piece band.

Much of the programme, especially in Autumn Term, will be subject to change depending on social distancing guidelines due to Covid-19 throughout the coming academic year.
