It is our pleasure to announce the MTS committee for 2017/18!
Succeeding Stephen Johnson as MTS President will be Abi Slade, a third year Drama student who sold her soul to MTS on her first day as a fresher, and is excited to be your President for the upcoming year. Abi made her MTS debut in her very first term at Royal Holloway when she played Rapunzel in Into the Woods our 2015 Autumn Term Main Show. Since then she has gone on to play Kat Stratford in her year's variations production, Not Another High School Musical, and many other productions. Last year she was elected as our Charities and Volunteering Co-ordinator 2016/17, where she did amazing work with our volunteering project, Sing-Along Surrey. Abi is excited to meet you all so that we can ‘toast’ to making this year MTS’ greatest year yet!
Becky Maddocks, a third year Drama and Theatre Studies student, will take over from Max Harris as Vice President. Becky has been involved with MTS since Summer Cabaret 2016, and this past year she has been involved in almost every production this year starting as a Jackson Squad member in Bring It On, Christmas Concert, Weekend Show, Producing Spring Awakening and Directing/Performing in our Summer Cabaret. She also was elected as our Events Co-ordinator starting in January 2017 organizing different nights out and social for our members. Becky is so excited for her final year with MTS and ready to introduce new members to such a great society.

Joining Abi and Becky on the committee next year will be new Secretary Alicia O'Neill a second year Drama and English Student. From Bring It On to Marvel vs DC variations to Summer Cabaret, Alicia has been such a bundle of energy, bring such joy to these productions. She looks forward to tackling all things that scream organization as well as booking many rooms for MTS.
Third year Drama and Theatre Studies student Jenni Tolhurst will fulfill the role of treasurer. From her first days of Shadow Directing Into the Woods to her MTS directorial debut in Not Another High School Musical, Jenni has been participating in our many inclusion events. This society has greatly shaped her experience at university and she cannot wait to crunch the numbers for MTS and put her love of numbers into action as treasurer
Anna Stanyon, a second year Drama and Dance student will assume the role of Events Co-ordinator for the next academic year. Anna has played Catwoman/Mystique in this year's variations production, Marvel vs DC as well as being a performer in our inclusion events this past year. She will bring the MTS community together for socials, fundraisers and all the fun stuff that we do. We can't wait to see what events she has planned for next year!
Last year we created the role of Charities and Volunteering Co-ordinator where our now president Abi Slade assumed the new position. Taking over the role is Kira Brown, a second year Drama student with a passion for Sing-Along Surrey and asking for donations. Making her MTS directorial debut in Marvel vs DC, Kira has continuously brought her smile and charm to all of our inclusion events this year. Looking forward to our trips to Surrey.
Another exciting new role from last year was our Careers and Development Officer, which was started by Amy Stone. This position is now in the hands of Flynn Sturgeon, a second-year music student who has found a way to be apart of almost every MTS event last year. From Shadow MD for Bring It On to MD for Marvel vs DC to Summer Cabaret, Flynn's musical talents have astonished our members and we can all look forward to seeing his Musical Directing work once again in our Autumn Term Main show, Cabaret 2017. We're very excited to see what he can bring to benefit our society and its members!
Finally, second year Drama and Student Emily Bradbury completes the committee with her role as Publicity Officer. Before even arriving at university, Emily was already well connected with all thing social media for MTS by being an eager fresher and liking every single post on Facebook and Instagram. This year she has been in the Truman Squad in Bring It On, performed in several inclusion events as well as shadowing our own VP Becky as Spring Awakening's Producer. Emily has been hard at work this summer rebranding our website and preparing all the posters and publicity ready for freshers week, so make sure you keep your eyes on all forms of social media to keep up to date with all thing MTS!
So that leaves only one role un-elected - First Year Representative! Are you an incoming first-year student with a passion for Musical Theatre, and do you think you could bring something to our wonderful team! Do you think you would be a suitable person to attract new first year members to MTS, and do you think you have ideas that just need to be heard? If so, the first year rep role is for you! Watch this space for an announcement about elections, which will take place in early October - all you have to do is prepare a one-minute speech on why you think you are suitable for the role. May the best candidate win!
We hope you are all enjoying wonderful summer holidays and cannot wait to either meet you all or see you all again in September. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact the committee on mts@su.rhul.ac.uk!
