The first term of the academic year can be a daunting time, especially if you're new to Royal Holloway, so here is a load down on all this MTS coming up this term! We have tones of actives to get involved with to blow away those summer blues!
September 18th and 19th: You will have your first opportunity to meet the committee and find our what we're all about at Freshers' Fayre. At our stall will be our committee members as well as production team members of our Autumn Show, Cabaret. Make sure you come on down to find out all the vital information and pick up a goody-bag!
September 20th: We have our FREE taster session in the SU Main Hall! Here you will have the opportunity to meet some of our members from last year and take part in a short rehearsal taster to see how things work. Becky Maddocks, Vice President, will be teaching a small section of choreography for our ANATT performance of Nicest Kids in Town as well as Flynn Sturgeon, Careers & Development Officer and Musical Director for Cabaret, will start teaching some of the fabulous harmonies for 21 Guns. During these two hours we will also have some fun-filled games and a chance to socialize.
September 21st: This year, there will be a joint Creative Arts Society BBQ held at the Happy Man pub in Englefield Green where you will get to find out about all the different opportunity to perform at Royal Holloway!
September 27th and 28th: We have audition for our exciting Autumn Term production, Cabaret! Please only attend one date and successful auditions will be invited to recalls on September 29th. Production team members will be present at the Fresher Fair, the Taster Session and the BBQ so there will be plenty of opportunities to ask questions!
Early-October: The start of rehearsal for ANATT will begin. We will perform two number in this fantastic inter-society showcase, 'Nicest Kids in Town' from Hairspray and '21 Guns' from American Idiot, we encourage all of our member to get involved! Nothing looks better than a stage full of MTS members, so please do come along to rehearsals which will be on Tuesday and Thursdays evenings. ANATT itself will take place at the end of October!
Mid-November: Following six weeks of intensive rehearsal, Cabaret will take place in the SU Main Hall. We cannot wait to see how this spectacular show comes to life so make sure you come along to support.
Early-December: We have our final event of the term and our second inclusion event of the year, our Christmas Concert. This will showcase numbers from musicals and popular culture around the Christmas Theme; we love all of our member to get into the holiday spirit with us!
In addition to all these exciting performance events, MTS will also be partaking in regular Sing-Along Surrey events. Sing-Along Surrey is a programme run by Royal Holloway, allowing its various music-based clubs and societies to visit local care homes throughout the county. We pride ourselves on bringing such joy to the residents of these homes through our music and encourage as many of our members as possible to give up some of their time to come along and share our MTS spirit.
We will also be having regular socials, including a theatre trip to a West End show, as well as a careers-based event with industry professionals. Does all of this sound exciting? It certainly does to us, which is why we are one of the busiest societies on campus!
Any questions, please don't hesitate to contact us on mts@su.rhul.ac.uk. Less than a month to go until term starts, we can't contain our excitement!!
